Our Building

The Perimeter was designed by 6a architects, transforming the historical building into a contemporary exhibition space that includes a working archive, gallery, gift shop and thoughtful architectural details rooted throughout, anchored by a cantilevered concrete staircase that is the heart of the building.

About 6a architects 

6a was founded by Tom Emerson and Stephanie Macdonald. Drawing on social histories, construction traditions, contemporary art and fashion, projects emerge firmly rooted in their place. Other projects include South London Gallery, Raven Row, Sadie Coles HQ, MK Gallery and Blue Mountain School. 6a is currently working on the new Tate Liverpool.
